US dollar up to 8.19 pesos, 'Blue' falls back

After moving up by 15 cents yesterday, the “blue” dollar fell back to 12.50 pesos today. The official US dollar, meanwhile, closed up a cent at 8.19 pesos in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices.

The parallel currency had previously climbed to 12.60 pesos as US Judge Thomas Griesa announced his decision to reject Argentina’s request for a stay in his ruling that orders the government to pay u$s 1,3 billions to holdout bondholders by the end of the month.

But on a day where Argentine representatives met with mediator Daniel Pollack, the 'blue' retreated in price, dropping 10 cents to trade at 12.50 pesos.

Meanwhile, the US dollar went up by a cent to 8.19 pesos.

Yesterday, the Central Bank purchased 50 million dollars yesterday, increasing its reserves by US$4 millions to US$29.7 billion.

In the meantime, the blue-chip swap traded down by two cents at 9.91 pesos and the stock exchange rate is up by four cents to 11.17 pesos.
