Sabella on contract renewal: ‘I have not decided yet’
Alejandro “Pachorra” Sabella will announce next week if he continues as Albiceleste coach or not, he revealed today while receiving an award for “Effort and team work in the National football team” at National Congress in Buenos Aires City.
“I will have an answer after this weekend,” said “Pachorra”, who has been meeting with Argentine Football Association (AFA) over his contract since he returned with the second-place medal from Brazil World Cup 2014 last week.
Sabella said he couldn’t give it enough though during the World Cup, as he concentrated on the team.
“I was focused on that, on the player’s performance and my self’s, as I too made some mistakes during the first games and needed to correct them.”
Asked about the award received today at the Lower House, Sabella said he felt “honored” and stated it was the “most important recognition” for him.
“This is the most important award I received in my life. Not entirely for the award, but also for the place we are in. We have to remember Congress was shut down during the last dictatorship and we have to thank our more than 30 years of democracy in Argentina,” he said.
