The President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner used her Twitter account to comment on last week’s heavy agenda with the visit of Russia’s and China’s presidents and the BRICS-UNASUR summit in Brazil. “It has been an important week for Argentina,” she said.

“It is time to value this magnificent opportunity that we have, in a world that becomes multipolar again,” the head of State said in reference to last week's events. “It has been seven days of intense work,” she said in the first of a series of tweets.

“The emergence of new actors will offer our countries new and better opportunities, because it will no longer be a world where one rule over others, it will be a world of cooperation and that should be the new global model,” she explained after detailing her agenda for the past seven days.

“With [Russian President] Vladimir Putin we signed agreements on energy, communication, nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and judiciary,” the president specified.

She then referred to the BRICS-SUMMIT summit that took place last Wednesday in Brasilia. “BRICS: Very importat meeting of emerging countries, we urged for reforms in multilateral credit organizations and political [institutions]”.

“In BRICS, with UNASUR, we stated that a new global financial order is not only fair and equitable, but indispensable,” the president added.

Fernández also mentioned China’s Xi Jinping’s official visit last Friday, which she described as “foundational in China-Argentina relations”. The head of State pointed out that the visit sets “a new stage of a full strategic association” between the two countries.

The president detailed the agreements reached with her Chinese counterpart: financing for the Néstor Kirchner and Jorge Cepernic dams in Santa Cruz province, the 11 billion dollar currency swap deal, the 2.09 billion dollars in the renovation of the Belgrano Cargas freight rail system and the project to build a fourth nuclear power station in Argentina.
