Xi supports stance on debt
Repeating a stance taken by the Chinese delegation at the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) meeting on Thursday, President Xi Jinping said at Government that China supports that Argentina’s negotiations with restructured debt holders be respected. The comments were taken as a reference to the country’s battle with holdout creditors. President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner had previously said that “we are facing speculative attacks” by “vulture funds that affect our currencies and our trade”, while simultaneously recalling her comments at the BRICS summit earlier this week in Brazil.
