Macri to avoid trial over phone-tapping charges

The Federal Chamber has confirmed that Buenos Aires mayor Mauricio Macri will not go to trial in the case concerning illegal telephone tapping.

The court confirmed today the resolution of federal judge Sebastián Casanello, who had declined to press charges against Macri due to lack of evidence. The rest of the individuals implicated in the case, including ex-chief of the Metropolitan Police Jorge 'Fino' Palacios, spy Ciro James and ex-Education minister Mariano Narodowski, will face trial.
