Gov't reiterates willingness to join BRICS ahead of Brazil summit
Ahead of the BRICS summit to be held today and tomorrow in Fortaleza, Brazil, which Argentina has been invited by Russia, Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich reiterated the government’s willingness to join the group of emerging economies but said “it is not just a matter of Argentine will”.
Asked about the possibility of Argentina joining the bloc, the Cabinet Chief pointed out the country’s leadership, boosted by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and highlighted its strategic reserves as a key point for a future Argentine membership.
However, the Kirchnerite official said “it is not just a matter of Argentine will, but of the member countries’.
Capitanich described the BRICS as “an important space for the reformulation of international politics” and stressed the common strategies shared by their members.
