Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano said the pain suffered by the 1-0 defeat against Germany in injury time will “last a lifetime.”

“We gave everything we had to give, but we came 5 minutes short. The pain we feel is immense, because we wanted to take the cup back to Argentina one more time,” Mascherano, one of the main players of the Albiceleste during this World Cup told reporters after the game.

“I’m proud of what we achieved and all we gave in the field, but I reckon this is not enough,” he added.

The Barcelona defender said he is “calm” and satisfied with the team’s performance, and highlighted the side lacked “a little bit of luck.”
