Dilma thanks Brazil for bringing 'joy' to people
After Brazil’s humiliating 7 to 1 defeat against Germany and a day after a new heavy loss in third-place match against the Netherlands, President Dilma Rousseff thanked the national team for bringing joy to the people. “You are bigger than any fleeting result,” she said.
“What remain in our people’s heart is the moments of joy you gave us in this World Cup, and the ones that you will probably bring in future Cups,” Dilma said to the team in an open letter to the team.
She urged Brazilians to learn from this experience in order to “improve soccer, inside and outside of the stadiums” and sent her regards and “sincere thanks” to the players.
