Shakira, Santana perform at World Cup closing ceremony in Río
Colombian singer Shakira and Mexican guitar player Carlos Santana performed along with the local Ivete Sangalo and Carlinhos Brown for the World Cup closing ceremony at Maracaná stadium, before the final match between Argentina and Germany.
The artists also shared the stage with Haitian hip hop star Wyclef Jean and Brazilian singer Alexandre Pires, who sang the World Cup hit “Dar um Jeito”.
The show took place an hour and a half before the final match between Argentina and Germany.
“I know the ceremony will be a big party, I am excited to be a part of it, and of this group of talented people that represent the dreams of many,” Shakira had said in a press conference at the Maracaná.
She sang her hit “La la la” along with dancers from Brazilian escola do samba.
“We will say goodbye to the world,” Brazilian icon Carlinhos Brown had said in turn. “People are going home after meeting the Brazilian people and living its hospitality”.
