Costa: Russia links prove Argentina is not isolated

Domestic Trade secretary Augusto Costa has revealed his delight at the visit of Russia president Vladimir Putin to Argentine soil, affirming that his presence in Buenos Aires and meeting with President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner proves that Argentina is not isolated in world politics.

"Far from the vision some try to impose of Argentina being isolated in the world and an international pariah, Putin's visit, the visit next week of Chinese president Xi Jinping and Argentina's participation in the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) shows that Argentina, is part of an entire bloc of countries," Costa told Nacional Rock today.

The politician told the radio station that "there is a great relationship based on dialogue and consensus" with the BRICS nations' stance in international forums such as the G20 and the World Trade Organisation.

For Costa, the countries involved "are strategic partners and markets that are going to be very important for Argentina."

"The possibility of being part of the BRICS represent an intensification of the economic relationship of trade with investment. They are countries of great importance," he signalled.

"As emerging countries they need to carry out policies that developed nations have already implemented."
