Four Leonas resign from national team
Silvina D'Elía, Carla Rebecchi, Mariela Scarone and Daniela Sruoga resigned today from the Argentina women national hockey team following vice-captain Rosario Luchetti’s abandonment of Las Leonas.
The players expressed through a press release that they prefer to leave the team as the Argentine Hockey Confederation (CAH, leaded by Aníbal Fernández) “no longer takes care of the values” they were “trained in.”
“Our priority has always been to defend our colors. That’s why we support and follow our vice-captain ‘Charo’ Luchetti’s renunciation,” the press release reads.
Luchetti resigned yesterday saying she doesn’t share CAH’s current leadership “values”, ten days after the Confederation announced Santiago Capurro as new coach of Las Leonas, replacing Carlos Retegui (who also coaches the men’s hockey team).
