Police clash with protestors in General Paz Avenue picket

Violence broke out at General Paz Avenue near Miguelete train station as the police tried to lift a picket set earlier this morning by Tecnología Avanzada en Transporte SA (TATSA) and Emprendimientos Ferroviarios (EMFER) workers. The traffic flow has been restored.

The protestors blocked the avenue around 6 a.m., demanding salary payments and denouncing lay-offs in their respective companies. The police used hydrant vehicles and tear gas to lift the picket while protestors answered throwing rocks and various objects.

After the clash, protestors withdrew back to the main entrance of both companies and the traffic flow was restored.

The operation was monitored by Security Secretary Sergio Berni, who overflew the area in an helicopter.

Five policemen suffered multiple traumas, the authorities said, and explained that although no protestor has been arrested several have been identified.
