Trade union heavyweight Hugo Moyano is set to become the new president of recently-promoted Independiente, as the first election results signal the CGT Azopardo head as clear winner at the Avellaneda club.

While official results are still to be released, the Teamster leader's "Independiente Group" have an overwhelming lead in early counting, over rival candidates from the "Red List" and "Independiente Movement" lists.

According to data from the club, 7876 cast their vote in the 'Red Devils'' headquarters in Avellaneda.

Moyano will hold the post of president for the next three years, with Noray Nakis and Carlos Montaña assuming as first and second vice-presidents.
