Government announces 4% hike in Price Watch programme products

Economy Minister Axel Kicillof and Domestic Trade Secretary Augusto Costa announced today an average price hike of 4 percent in products that are part of the government-fueled Price Watch programme, created in January to freeze the prices of basic goods, as of next Monday.

During a press conference they held at the Economy Ministry, Kicillof explained that "As of July 7, the second quarterly revision of the Price Watch programme will be made."

The minister added that in the last months prices of goods and services registered a major slowdown. "Even the most loudmouth had to admit it," he said.

"There is a fake index, called Congress CPI, which does not belong to the Congress, which has unkownn methods and motivations," he added. "Even that index shows a similar deceleration," he stated.
