Randazzo receives new Sarmiento train stock

Interior and Transport Minister Florencio Randazzo headed today the reception of eight new train formations at the Buenos Aires port, aimed to replace old carriages on the suburban Sarmiento line.

Accompanied by the Secretary of the Presidency, Oscar Parrilli, Randazzo announced that “with this shipment, there are already 153 new carriages nationwide, which means 17 new trains,” and affirmed that the entire stock will be renewed “very soon.”

According to the official, “on July 21 the new formations will become operative,” and emphasized that “by September 15, there will be no old formations on the Sarmiento line.”

Randazzo remarked the new wagons “possess the last technology, including ABS brake system, AC, and smart doors which prevent the train from moving if they are not shouted appropriately.”

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner had been scheduled to lead the act, but was forced to cancel her participation after falling ill with pharyngeal laryngitis.
