'We cannot make any defensive mistakes'
Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero said the Albiceleste can’t make any mistakes in its own field and warned about Swiss “powerful attack” days before the last-16 match against the European side.
Romero, who played a solid game during the group stage, stated that Argentine players should try to “make mistakes from the midfield onwards,” instead of “defensive mistakes.”
“If we make any mistakes we should try to make them from the midfield onwards and not in our side. We cannot make any defensive mistakes,” the goalkeeper told reporters.
Romero also warned Switzerland has a “powerful attack” and highlighted Gokhan Inler and Xherdan Shaqiri’s game.
“They have a powerful attack. When Inler gets the ball he sets the game’s timing, and when Shaqiri gets the ball he can be very dangerous.”
“If we play a confident game we can help our attackers win the game,” he added.
