Riquelme leaves Boca’s facilities without training
Boca Juniors returned to the training sessions after holidays and captain Juan Román Riquelme went to the club, talked to coach Carlos Bianchi and then left, with hundreds of fans requesting the midfielder’s contract extension.
The players went at 4pm to practice for the new season, while the Boca star appeared at the club at 3.30pm and met Bianchi. Apparently, the coach suggested Riquelme to leave to avoid injuries as he has not renewed his contract yet.
The midfielder’s contract ends on Monday and he said that after that day he will listen to other offers.
Hundreds of fans went to the club facilities to support Riquelme and requested the player’s continuity in the club.
Boca says that they will solve the difference before Monday to extend Riquelme’s contract for 18 months.
Former club’s president, Jorge Amor Ameal, said that the officials do not want Riquelme in the club.
“This people (talking about president Daniel Angelici) don’t want to talk about it. They don’t want him in the club,” said Amor Ameal, who when he was in charge extended Riquelme’s contract for four years.
