Teamsters agree on 33% wage raise, call off strike
After several warnings of “wildcat strikes”, the teamster union led by Pablo Moyano said an agreement has been reached with corporate representatives for a 33% salary raise and called off the announced 48-hour nationwide walk-out.
The Union said in a press release that a deal has been reached, with a 33% wage raise, after rejecting the 28% previously offered. “The agreement was reached after days of struggle and with the support of the workers […] seeking a decent pay,” the statement read.
The raise will be paid in three instalments, 18% in July, 8% in November and 7% in March.
After the negotiation, the workers also kept their 3,000-4,000 pesos annual bonus benefit and an additional for glucose and derivatives transport of 4,700 pesos.
