Lionel Messi movie to be premiere in Rio - watch trailer
Lionel Messi’s magic will be hitting cinemas next week during the world premiere of the movie about the life of the brilliant Argentine striker to take place in Rio de Janeiro. Yes, in the margins of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The piece has been directed by Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia and written by ex Argentine football player Jorge Valdano. It will be premiered on July 2, a day after the “albiceleste” squad clashes against Switzerland in their round of 16 match.
The movie was shot in the cities of Buenos Aires and Rosario where the Argentine star was born and presents footages, interviews and tapes recovered by de la Iglesia for the film, starring Juan Ignacio Martínez as little Messi and including testimonies of coaches, journalists and world-renowned soccer figures such as current coach of Argentina’s national team Alejandro Sabella and football icon Diego Maradona.
