Argentine football icon Diego Armando Maradona said he will not be attending Argentina’s final Group F match against Nigeria today, after being accused of “jinxing” the national squad in the previous game against Iran. “I don’t want to be a problem, I won’t go to the game against Nigeria,” he said.

“I never wish anything bad upon Argentina,” Maradona said yesterday in De Zurda, the TV show he co-hosts. “I don’t want to be a problem, I won’t go to the game against Nigeria. I will watch it on TV,” he added.

Last week, Maradona left the Argentina versus Iran match early, right before Messi scored, securing Argentina's progression into the second round of the World Cup. The former soccer player was then accused of being a jinx for the national squad by Julio Grondona, the president of the Argentina Football Association (AFA).
