Núñez Carmona refuses to testify in Ciccone case
José María Núñez Carmona, a key witness and defendant in the so-called Ciccone case involving Vice President Amado Boudou, showed up in court this morning to be questioned by Federal Judge Ariel Lijo. However, the alleged childhood friend of co-defendant Boudou refused to testify alluding he had not had enough time to prepare his defence.
Núñez Carmona’s testimony was expected to mark a highly-anticipated moment in the controversial case after he failed to appear in court on two previous dates — first for being out of the country and later so he could begin work with a new defence team.
Many fingers in the case have pointed to Núñez Carmona, who two weeks ago — speaking from Uruguay — told a TV journalist that there are “many things to discuss” about the sale of the Ciccone Calcográfica mint company.
