Ginóbili says yes to Argentina
Emanuel Ginóbili confirmed yesterday that he is going to play for the Argentina national team in the World Cup in Spain.
Later, coach Julio Lamas announced a list of nine players who were called up for the competition. Carlos Delfino, Walter Herrmann, Luis Scola, Andrés Nocioni, Pablo Prigioni, Facundo Campazzo, Leonardo Gutiérrez and Juan Gutiérrez joined Ginóbili in the squad. More players will be included after the South American Championship of Isla Margarita from July 24 to 29.
Argentina will play eight warm-up games before travelling to Spain.
“Se you in #Spain2014,” wrote Ginóbili on his twitter account. It will be the fourth World Cup for the San Antonio Spurs player, after Athens 1998, Indianapolis 2002 and Japan 2006. He missed the 2010 tournament in Turkey.
On Sunday, Ginóbili won his fourth NBA title with the Spurs after beating the Miami Heat in the finals.
