British press says Suárez ‘humiliated’ England
English online media lamented a latest defeat for their team in the 2014 World Cup, opining that Uruguay and Liverpool forward Luis Suárez “humiliated” the British side after the 'Celeste's' 2-1 victory in Sao Paulo.
“Luis Suarez condemned England to humiliation in Brazil”, reads the Telegraph, who also ironically highlighted Rooney’s first World Cup goal.
The Guardian, meanwhile, stated that Suárez's double “pointed Roy Hodgson’s team on the way out,” while the Times points out “England’s World Cup hopes are hanging by the slenderest of threads.”
England depends on Italy winning its game against Costa Rica to remain alive in the World Cup, and hope for a miracle to pass through the group stage.
If Italy beat Costa Rica, the English side has to win the last match against the “Ticos” by a wide difference and wait for Italy to beat Uruguay, in order to qualify by goal difference.
