'If Scioli wins primaries, he will be FpV's candidate'
Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich ratified his comments on Daniel Scioli who took part this week in a meeting organized by the media group Clarín – birds of a feather flock together, he had said. Still, he considered that if the Buenos Aires province Governor wins next year’s primaries then he will be “without a doubt” the candidate of the ruling Victory Front (FpV).
In his daily message to the press at the government house, the head of ministers was queried about the political controversy that aroused this week when Governor Scioli attended a meeting organized by Clarín, one of the government’s leading media critics.
When reporters asked him whether he would support Scioli’s candidacy in the 2015 run, Capitanich reaffirmed his statements: “Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are.”
But this time he highlighted that if the governor gets to win the primaries next year ahead of the general election then Kirchnerites would likely close ranks behind him.
“Scioli will likely be a candidate. If he wins (the primaries), you should have no doubt that he will be the candidate of the Victory Front,” the head of President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s ministerial team stated.
On Tuesday, the governor of the Buenos Aires province participated in a gathering alongside Clarín’s CEO Héctor Magnetto and several key opposition figures such as Broad Front-UNEN leader Hermes Binner and Renewal Front head Sergio Massa.
