Subway workers confirm strike action
The entire subway system will not operate tomorrow between 5am to 7am, sources from the Subway and Premetro Workers' Union Association (AGTSyP) announced following a failed meeting with representatives of the train operating company Sbase and the City government.
Ticket offices will also remain unmanned throughout the day, after today's attempts at conciliation did not manage to quell the dispute.
“We have not reached an agreement”, the sources revealed.
The measure is related to requests for more security at subway stations, a repeated demand by unionists from that sector.
The conflict started on June 1st, when Metropolitan Police agents took control of the security replacing previous Federal forces. However, according workers from the subterranean service, the new police left the tickets offices, the place where the most robberies occur, unguarded.
