CFK meets with governors to define new hydrocarbons law

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner today received the governers of several petroleum-producing provinces in the official government residence in Olivos, as part of discussions ahead of the announcement of a new hydrocarbons law.

The meeting began just after 6pm in the head of state's residence, in the north of Greater Buenos Aires, where she was joined by the leaders of the provincial administrations of Jujuy, Salta, Formosa, La Pampa, Mendoza, Neuquén, Chubut, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego.

Cristina invited the governers to take part in an agreement to reform the hydrocarbon law, in effect since 1967. A change in legislation would redefine tax and royalty distribution issues, as well as the way in which licenses for the exploitation of unconventional gas and petroleum reserves are renewed.

Economy minister Axel Kicillof and YPF chief Miguel Gallucio were also present at the summit.
