VP Boudou vows to widen declaration after five hours in front of judge

The investigation hearing into Vice President Amado Boudou's alleged involvement in the Ciccone printworks case, overseen by Judge Ariel Lijo, has come to a close for the day after the politician declared for over five hours.

"Today I finished my judicial declaration, I did not speak about politics," he told gathered reporters as he left the court building, while revealing that he would ask to expand on his testimony given today in Comodoro Py.

"I answered the questions that were put to me. This declaration is related to a technical legal analysis of the case, I have kept the political issues to myself for another time," the politician added.

"I made it known to the judge that I will ask to declare again."

Boudou also vowed to upload his declaration to Facebook, after having his request to televise the hearing rejected by Lijo.

The vice-president had arrived at the court this morning to face Lijo's questioning, over accusations of having inappropriately helped the Ciccone printing company lift its bankruptcy when he was Economy Minister in 2010. "I am very calm," he said before entering.

"Beyond all the political causes, the truth is in the judicial file."

Boudou also expressed his optimism for being able to "tell the truth" and "unravel all this fabrication".

“It is very sad when they attack permanently without real arguments,” Boudou has said earlier today in reference to the media treatment his case has received.

In a radio interview with Buenos Aires province deputy governor Gabriel Mariotto, the Vice-President said “what is on stake [in his questioning by Judge Ariel Lijo] -especially since Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner arrived- is whether power rests in the people or in the hands of a few who make decisions.”

“This is focused on me and I have the truth,” he said about the accusations he faces of having inappropriately helped Ciccone lift its bankruptcy when he was Economy Minister in 2010.
