Anti-Vulture Funds delegation meets with US politicians

A Congressional delegation has arrived in Washington D.C to support Argentina’s stance in its court battle with holdout hedge funds, the so called ‘Vulture Funds’.

The group met with members of the US State Department officials and the House of Representatives, to whom they communicated their support for the Argentine government's position against the holdout investors.

Argentina’s Victory Front’s lawmakers as well as opposition leaders joined the delegation, headed by the president of the Lower House, Kirchnerite Julían Domínguez. Upon arriving, the committee will be welcomed at the White House by the US Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Roberta Jacobson and Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs Ricardo Zuñiga.

At today's meeting Domínguez handed a document to Democrat Leader of the House Nancy Pelosi, transmitting the "relevance that this case has for the nation's future and for millions of Argentines."

"All political forces show unstinting support for the petition presented by Argentina."

Besides Domínguez, Kirchnerite Senators Juliana Di Tullio, Roberto Feletti, José Uñac, Eric Calcagno, Guillermo Carmona, Carlos Heller, Omar Perotti, Marcelo Fuentes and Ruperto Godoy joined the delegation, along with opposition lawmakers Darío Giustozzi, Federico Strurzenegger, Lino Aguilar and Martín Lousteau.

Domínguez praised the unity achieved in the delegation. “I value the lawmaker’s attitude to prioritize national interest,” he said before boarding the plane that took them to the US. “Politics have won”.

Meanwhile, in his daily press briefing, Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich described the delegation as "very important" and said it will "help reaffirm Argentina's sovereign and autonomous stance in the dispute against Vulture Funds".
