Gallardo promises offensive team
Marcelo Gallardo was officially introduced as River Plate’s new coach yesterday and the former midfielder promised an offensive team. “I always aim for the opposition’s goal. That’s my main aim. We’ll have an attacking team, but we will defend ourselves too,” said Gallardo, who took the place left by Ramón Díaz.
River clinched the Final Tournament title and the new trainer wants to “raise the bet” and go for more.
Among those present in the press conference at the Monumental stadium were president Rodolfo D’Onofrio and manager Enzo Francescoli.
It will be the second experience for Gallardo as a coach. He was in charge of Nacional of Uruguay during the 2012/2013 season and won the Uruguayan league title.
