Ambrosio named at helm of the Argentino
The Teatro Argentino yesterday announced in a statement that local director, stage designer and actress Valeria Ambrosio was named artistic director of the institution. Ambrosio’s arrival at the Argentino comes a few short weeks after acclaimed composer and director Gabriel Senanes was placed at the helm of the most important opera house of Buenos Aires Province. Senanes was unable to continue running the show at the Argentino due to personal matters, the statement said.
Ambrosio rose to fame and popularity on the Argentine musical theatre stage after directing Mina… que cosa sei, in 2003, starring Elena Roger. Over the last decade, she has directed or staged several musicals in the mainstream arena, chief among which are Pimpinela, la familia, starring the famous duo Lucía and Joaquín Galán. Ambrosio currently has two plays in theatres: Priscilla and Pegados.
