Yutaka Toyota was born in Japan in 1931 and has been based in Brasil since the 60s. A strong representative of modern sculpture, Toyota’s works can be seen throughout San Paolo city where he currently lives (Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, Jardim da Luz and Centro Britânico Brasileiro, among others). His stainless steel sculptures are oftenly related to the Kinetic Art movement. His works also aim to create a certain interaction with the public, whether from a contemplative point of view or from a direct manipulation that establishes the sculptures’ movements. The exhibition’s title is Luz y color yuxtapuestos.
