A Salta court has sentenced Gustavo Lasi to 30 years imprisonment for his part in the murder of two French tourists in the province, while two of those charged for the crime were acquitted in today's hearing.

Lassi was convicted of armed robbery, aggravated sexual assault and double homicide, all charges relating to the 2011 murder of Cassandra Bouvier and Houria Moumni. The French nationals were killed whilst visiting the province during an excursion to the Quebrada de San Lorenzo.

Omar Ramos and Antonio Sandoval, meanwhile, were convicted of being accessories to the murders, and were each sentenced to two years in prison.

But Sabtis Vera and Daniel Vilte, who had been brought into the trial as co-defendants against the sexual assault and murder charges, were acquitted of all charged by the Salta court.
