'Blue' dollar plunges 30 cents to 11.40 on low demand
The blue dollar or informal rate dropped 30 cents today to trade at 11.40 pesos due to lower demand of greenbacks and pushed by the blue-chip swap rate which was also down at 11 pesos.
It ended 10 cents lower at 11.70 pesos yesterday amid few transactions due to a nationwide bankers' strike.
The US dollar today traded half a cent higher in banks and exchange offices at 8.095 pesos as market analysts estimate around 140 million dollars from grain exporters are being liquidated on a daily basis.
