Poroshenko to take oath on June 7

The inauguration ceremony of Ukraine’s newly elected president Petro Poroshenko will be held on June 7, as announced by Poroshenko himself on Twitter.

Ukrainian billionaire chocolate factory owner Petro Poroshenko was elected president with 54.7 percent of the votes, the Central Electoral Comission (CEC) announced today according to scrutiny results.

Former Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko came in second with 12.81 percent of the votes, in her second consecutive defeat in presidential elections, after losing against Viktor Yanukovich in 2010.

The inauguration will take place in Kiev’s Independence Square (Maidan).
