In the wake of the 204th anniversary of the May Revolution Pope Francis urged Argentineans to work towards “a peaceful cohabitation” and to build “a constructive dialogue” in a letter addressed to President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

“Cristina: it is my pleasure to greet you and express my closeness and my most heartfel congratulations to all Argentinean in this national holiday,” reads the document, dated May 15 but released today.

Francis said he prays the Lord and the Lady of Luján for Argentineans to find “ways for peaceful cohabitation, constructive dialogue and mutual colaboration” so that “solidarity, concorde and justice” may flourish.
