YPF confirms discovery of Chubut oil, gas deposits
YPF oil company head, Miguel Galuccio, revealed today the finding of unconventional deposits of hydrocarbons in Chubut province, during a meeting with local governor Martín Buzzi.
The two explained the advances following the first explorative drilling at the site D-129, inside the region of “El Trebol”.
The finding assures the presence of 39° API type oil, as well as gas reserves, which are of a superior quality in comparison with the hydrocarbons found at Cuenca del Golfo San Jorge, the countries biggest productive basin, which crosses the provinces of Chubut and Santa Cruz.
“It is a fantastic discovery which not only amplifies the province’s horizon, but it also increases the country’s potential and hopes of energy self-sufficiency," Buzzi affirmed in the presentation
Meanwhile, Galuccio emphasized the role of the state-run company in the find, and remarked “YPF has been a great discoverer in Argentina, and today, as we have insisted on keeping that profile, we drilled the well.”
