Gov’t to appeal court ruling over Iran pact

Justice Minster Julio Alak has confirmed the government will appeal the Federal Court ruling that declared the Argentina-Iran cooperation agreement unconstitutional, saying it “violates National Congress and executive branch faculties.”

"Foreign relations belong to Foreign Ministry and Senate jurisdiction, and constitutional interpretations are Supreme Court jurisdiction," said Alak in a press conference.

Together with Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman, Alak defended the memorandum and affirmed the government has always searched “for the truth in the AMIA cause.”

“In 20 years, the justice system not been able to solve the AMIA cause”, said the Justice Minister.
