CFK announces 40% child benefit rise

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced this afternoon a 40 percent increase to child benefit, during a national broadcast delivered at Government House.

The welfare contribution, which covers over 3,4 million people under the age of 18, will rise from 460 to 644 pesos per month, starting in June.

Registered workers will also enjoy a similar raise in family benefit.

The head of state remarked the role of her administration in the nationalization of the pension funds, and stated that “without this step, it could not be done.”

Fernández de Kirchner also referred to criticisms aimed at the  government for the use of Anses public funds. The head of state clarified that “77,7 percent [of those funds] are distributed for pensions.”

Economy Minister Axel Kicillof and Anses head Diego Bossio were among the participants of the event, which also revealed new advances in the PROCREAR house-building program.
