INDEC reveals April inflation at 1.8%

Economy Minister Axel Kicillof
The National Statistics and Census Institute has estimated that inflation for the month of April continued its downward trend since the start of 2014, reaching 1.8 percent according to figures gathered using the agency's Consumer Price Index.

The data for the past month was announced by Economy Minister Axel Kicillof in today's press conference, and is 0.8 percent lower than the figure announced for March.

And taking the information compiled by INDEC since the start of 2014, in the first four months of the year prices rose a total of 11.9 percent.

Kicillof highlighted the "strong deceleration" in price rises since January, when a devaluation of the peso caused what he dubbed "extraordinary situations."

The minister also pointed out that in the Food and Drink sector - which has the greatest effect on low-income households - a rise of 1.1 percent was recorded.
