The upgrade to 4G in focus
In a word, the difference between 3G and 4G is speed, as 4G allows mobile users to browse, download and stream 15 times faster (2-40Mbps) than on the 3G network (1Mbps).
The G stands simply for generation, with 2G having brought the advent of texting, and 3G of mobile Internet.
Another benefit of 4G is that its antenae can withstand far more congestion; that is, more people can be covered by each antenna at the same speed.
Enrique Carrier’s consultancy last month reported that currently 52 percent of Argentines’ mobile devices are 3G-capable, while only one percent are 4G-ready. Carrier told the Herald that the availability of 4G will logically make the sale of latest-generation phones surge.
