Lorenzetti praises Argibay as justice is laid to rest

The remains of judge Carmen Argibay were today laid to rest in the Court Palace, where her former colleagues in the Supreme Court paid homage to the 74-year-old who passed away on Saturday.

The magistrate's funeral, which had begun last night, was extended until today and took place on the ground floor of the City building. The service was held in Talcahuano 550 to fulfil the wishes of Argibay, Court president Ricardo Lorenzetti.

"It was her home," the justice affirmed as he led the homage to the late judge.

"[The court] will continue with her ideals," he added, stating that the first female member of the Supreme Court was "an example... she never faltered when making decisions."

Fellow justices Raúl Zaffaroni and Elena Highton de Nolasco were also in attendance at the service, alongside Broad Front Unen (FAU) lawmaker Elisa Carrió.

Argibay passed away yesterday at 2.05pm after spending 10 days in intensive care, following a heart attack.
