‘Credit card rates are too high’

The government is analyzing the possibility of forcefully decreasing credit card interest rates, Economy deputy minister Emanuel Álvarez Agis said yesterday, noting that “we are waiting to see how the sector reacts” to a decrease in rates of Treasury notes. “We have detected some abuses,” he said, noting that some charge annual rates as high as 80 percent.
