BA City approves ex-ESMA transfer to federal gov't
The ex-Navy School of Mechanics (ESMA), along with another four dictatorship-era memorials, will no longer be under Buenos Aires City’s administration after lawmakers approved the handover to the national government.
The initiative, presented by Buenos Aires Mayor Mauricio Macri, was passed with 41 positive votes and 16 negative.
With the measure, the legislative body also dissolved the “Space for Memory Institute” (IEM), and created the new “Public Memory Council.”
