State workers close salary negotiations after talks with CFK

Trade unions representing workers employed by the state have agreed a pay rise of 28.15 percent, following a meeting today with President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in Government House.

UPCN leader Andrés Rodríguez, as well as announcing the raises which will be paid in two installments, also revealed that more employees would be added to the state's direct payroll.

The union chief refused to give a concrete answer when asked by ambito.com on what the minimum salary for employees would be. "Most state workers are now in categories D, E and C," Rodríguez underlined.

The official added that a new tender would be opened to incorporate personnel currently employed on a temporary basis. Salaries for public sector employees will now range from a minimum of 4,500 pesos a month to a maximum of 7,700 in category F, while wages for employees in the A classification will vary from 14 to $28,000.

The public sector has been the area which has hired the most workers under the CFK administration - more than 250 percent - due to the nationalisation of some railway lines, YPF, Aerolíneas Argentina and the Post Office.
