Macri about CFK: 'In her rhetoric, inflation is not a serious issue'
BA City Mayor Mauricio Macri revealed details of his recent phone conversations with President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and said she belittled the importance of cost of living increases. “In her rhetoric, inflation is not a serious issue,” PRO party leader said.
“I’ve spoken four or five times with her [lately],” Macri said to Radio Mitre in an interview today. “After years of no talking, in the past year we’ve spoken once every couple of months about specific matters, like transportation and environment”
Macri said he mentioned inflation to the President because it is a “huge concern” of his, and that she replied that the situation didn’t seem so concerning. “[The President] considers it doesn’t really affect the economy, that it’s an exaggeration of those who don’t share the kirchnerite message,” the Mayor said. “To her mind, inflation is not as serious or as big as we see it,” he added.
PRO party leader confessed he “hasn’t been very successful” at convincing the President that inflation is an “evil form of tax because it destroys growth and employment and affects the poorest, generating high levels of corruption”.
