US dollar steady at 8.01 pesos; 'blue' lower
The US dollar closed steady today at 8.01 pesos on the first Business day and after the Labour Day long weekend. The official exchange rate has remained unchanged since March 31.
The Central Bank, meanwhile, once more took advantage of calm in the exchange market to purchase the US currency. The entity directed by Juan Carlos Fábrega bought 90 million dollars over the day, in a bid to boost foreign currency reserves. The parallel 'blue' was trading at 10.50 pesos, dropping another five cents after losing the same value on Wednesday, the last trading day due to the public holiday.
