Independiente's Primera hopes falter in Jujuy

Independiente suffered their latest defeat this afternoon with a 1-0 reverse away to Gimnasia de Jujuy, robbing the 'Rojo' of the chance to regain their place amongst the three teams in line for promotion to the Primera División.

Matías Quiroga hit the only goal of the game midway through the second half to assure victory for the hosts, who defended stoutly against the team directed by Omar de Felippe. With their three points, Gimnasia join a pack of sides hoping to claim the third promotion spot.

Independiente currently lie in fifth place in the B Nacional, two points away from third place and the final ticket to the top division.

That spot is currently occupied by Instituto and Crucero del Norte with six games to play, tied on 55 points. In the case of a draw, a play-off will take place between the pair in order to decide promotion.
