Moyano: ‘I don’t have a damn thing to do with Covelia’
The head of the CGT Azopardo union Hugo Moyano, who has been referred as one of the owners of waste management company Covelia, stated he doesn’t have “a damn thing to do” with the company envolved in a dispute with Quilmes mayor Francisco “Barba” Gutiérrez.
“I don’t have a damn thing to do with Covelia”, the teamsters leader said in an interview with Nacional Rock radio.
Moyano said he has links “with every transportation company” to make sure they respect labor rights. “If they do then I have a good relationship. If they don’t, they’re my enemies,” he stated.
“I don’t have any other kind of link [to Covelia],” Moyano underlined. “My conscience is absolutely clear. I’m at peace with God. I don’t care anymore about all the nonsense they have been saying”.
Asked about the labour dispute between SICHOCA and the Quilmes municipality, that plans to extend state control over the company, Moyano said “there could be an agreement [between the union and the local government] if the federal government allows it”.
“The municipality wants to leave about 100 workers out of jobs and we can’t allow a single worker out of job,” he said.
