Capitanich, Scioli address militants at United & Organised conference

The governor of Buenos Aires province Daniel Scioli and cabinet chief Jorge Capitanich were among the high-profile figures to address today's United and Organised conference, as the Kirchnerite organisation mobilised militants to mark 11 years since Néstor Kirchner's election victory.

On April 27 2003, the late husband of current president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner finished second in the poll behind Carlos Menem, and was elected head of state when his opponent declined to fight a second round of voting against the former Santa Cruz governor.

In his speech to the summit, held in the Central Market, La Matanza district and titled "The militancy debates and builds a future", Scioli emphasised that Argentina was perfectly placed to grow as a nation and continue to face the challenges ahead.

"[There are] unbeatable conditions for the new challenges that present themselves in Argentina," the Victory Front politician signalled.

Capitanich, meanwhile, hit out against critics of the Kirchnerite administration as he, alongside La Matanza mayor Fernando Espinoza, opened the congress. For the former Chaco governor, "it is no coincidence that those who tried to take governments to their knees so they would finish their terms" are against Kirchnerism.

"We are not looking towards the last 20 months of the end of an era, but rather the last 20 months of a government that has governed for 11 years," he underlined.

Tupac Amaru militant leader Milagro Sala was another invited to speak at the event, and urged militants to "not take a single step back."

"[Cristina] needs you united and organised," the Jujuy militant leader told participants of today's event.
