A French tourist in New York ran into a man munching a burger from a trash can and offered him a slice of pizza. Little did she know at the time that far from feeding a homeless man, she was talking to actor Richard Gere, in character for his upcoming movie “Time out of Mind”.

42 years old Karine Valnais Gombea had just left a pizza restaurant near Grand Central Station with her husband and 15 year-old son when he saw a man wearing a sporting a ski cap and scruffy facial hair going through a trash can.

She handed him what was left of her pizza in a brown “I love NY” bag.

“I told him ‘I’m sorry but the pizza is cold,” Gombea told The New York Post. A very convincing Gere replied with a smile: “Thank you! God bless you!”

Gombea left without realizing she had just handed food to an actor worth nearly $100 million in the middle of a scene. Only a couple of days later when she saw her picture in the newspaper she realized what she had done.

“It was magical, unbelievable,” the French tourist said the press.
